      Sally Baker Williams, 77, of Knoxville, died on March 5, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Williams was born in Jackson, TN, where she was raised by the late Alfred and Ethel Baker. She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bond Baker. After graduating from Jackson High School, Sally attended Lambuth College where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She graduated with a degree in Business Education from Middle Tennessee State University and was voted by her classmates as the most popular girl. Sally and Jimmy raised their daughters in Jackson, TN until moving to Johnson City, TN in 1977. Sally was an avid VOLS fan and loved exploring The Smoky Mountains with her family and friends. She spent time volunteering at Children's Hospital and other ministries that supported those in need. Her passion for life and others is reflected in her motto "I'd rather run till I'm out of breath than amble along and be bored to death." As an active member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, she participated in the children's programs as well as the women's ministry. Sally always welcomed visitors with open arms and had a gift of making everyone feel at home. She nourished people with her Christian faith, unconditional love and beautiful smile. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Jim Williams, Jr., two children, Sara King of Franklin, TN and Carol Walker and her husband Brian of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren Thomas King of Dallas, TX and Abby King of Franklin, TN; brother-in-law and his wife, John and Brenda Williams, and numerous relatives. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as "Sassy." The family is grateful for the loyal caring support of hospice and to the many caregivers who attended Sally during her illness. Visitation will be held Saturday March 10, 3:00 pm -5:00 pm at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 7001 Northshore Dr. Knoxville, TN 37919. A celebration of Sally's life will follow at 5:30 pm under the direction of Bishop Richard Looney In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or to the Pat Summitt Foundation (Fund of East TN for Alzheimers), 520 West Summit Hill Drive, Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902, www.patsummit.org.
