  Obituary   LaWauna Hicks of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, January 10, 2009, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years. LaWauna Hicks was born on December 18, 1926, in Moorewood, Oklahoma, to Fred Lane and Lena Lee (Smyth) Green. She grew up in Moorewood attending Moorewood Public Schools before moving to Clinton, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Clinton High School in 1945. Following her education she worked for Nash Finch Wholesale Grocery in Clinton and assisted in raising her siblings. She married Newman Cain Hicks on December 11, 1955, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, and they settled in Clinton. In August of 1974 they moved to Blackwell and she began working as a bookkeeper for Cassidy Heat and Air. She retired in the early 1980's and continued serving her family as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the JOY Group in Blackwell. She is survived by her husband, Newman Hicks of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Sandra Inmon of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Stephanie Hicks of Denton, Texas; two sisters, Francis Hoffman of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Barbara Bodenstein of Springdale, Arkansas; five brothers, Willard Green of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Clayton Green of Duncan, Oklahoma, Royce Green of Wichita, Kansas, Clyde Green of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Joe Green of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Millard Green. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14th in the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Michael Moers officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Corey Inmon, Drew Inmon, Brody Inmon, Hunter Foreman and Jalen Foreman. Casketbearers will be Mike Creech, Chris Fetters, Ronnie Porter, Marion Wright, Bob Noblett and Richard Jernigan.
