      HARTWELL, GA Mrs. Mabel Givens Norment, 101, of 1178 Melody Lane, Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Hart Care Center.

      Born June 15, 1905 in Jackson, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late David C. Givens and Irene Doyle Givens. She was a member of Gold Star Mothers of America, Former President of Memphis Chapter; various service and charitable groups in Memphis, Daytona Beach and Hartwell. She was also a homemaker and a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church.

      Her survivors include: Son and daughter in law, James W. Norment, Jr and Thelma of Hartwell, GA; Two granddaughters, Lynne N. Landis of Martinez, GA and Gail N. Patton of Seneca, SC, Four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents, husband, James W. Norment, Sr.; Son, Charles R. Norment killed in Action, US Marine Corp, Korea, 1951; Brother, David D. Givens, and a sister, Kathleen McKenzie.

      The body was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Winn will officiate. The body was cremated. Memorials may be mad to Hartwell First U.M.C. Building Fund, 200 E. Howell St., Hartwell, GA 30643.
