      Obituary: Charles T. "Tom" Eddins

      Charles T. "Tom" Eddins, 70, of North Platte, died March 22, 2012, at his home.
      He was born on Jan. 16, 1942, in North Platte to William Alvis and Helen (Lankford) Eddins.
      Tom was raised in North Platte and worked at North Platte Lumber during high school. After graduating from North Platte High School, Tom began his 42-year career at Sixth Street Food Stores. He started as a grocery stocker, and worked his way to store manager, retiring in 2002.
      On July 22, 1962, Tom married Joan Staples in North Platte. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many years teaching numerous generations to join him at what he loved so much. Tom was a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship and the Platte River Sportsman Club.
      Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joan, of North Platte; children, Kristy (Preston) Keys, of North Platte, Sherry and her fiancé Matt Schneckenburger, of Peoria, Ill., and Gale (Lynne) Eddins, of Parker, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Heather Serrano, of Lincoln, Nathan (Linzie) Eddins, of Aurora, Colo., Amber (TJ Coons) Keys, of North Platte, Ebony (Delmas Moore) Keys, of Lincoln, Tanner (Kirsten) Eddins, of Parker, Colo., Ricky Smith, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Matthew Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Pete (Marcia) Eddins, of Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Eddins, of Fremont.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister, Margie; and a brother, Alvis Lee. A memorial has been established and online condolences can be made at adamsswanson.com.
      Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, at the Harvest Christian Fellowship South Campus with the Rev. Ron Lauber officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
