  Obituary   Frank Oakley Upton, 88, former Mayor of Medon, Tennessee and owner of J F Upton & Son Grocery, died Monday (May 20, 1991) at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in Jackson, with burial in Clover Creek Cemetery in Medon, Madison County, Tennessee. Mr Upton and his father, John Franklin Upton, started Medon's J F Upton & Son Grocery in 1924. As a young boy Frank operated a barber shop in one section of the store. He was a member of Elks Lodge #192. Upton was also the widower of Mrs. Elizabeth Givens Upton (Medon Postmaster from 1942 to 1985) whom he married on Feb 18, 1988 in Madison County, Tennessee. Mr Upton's parents were the late John Franklin and Pattie Webb Willette Upton of Medon, Tennessee. They are also both buried in Clover Creek Cemetery in Medon, Madison County, Tennessee.
