Obituary
Wanda C. Tarpley, 82, a long time resident of Tucumcari and most recently of Roswell, NM, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her sister, Ouida Lowrey of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Walter H.(Bud) Harris of Roswell; nieces and nephews, Keith Lowrey and wife, Holly, Jim Lowrey and wife, Gwen, Andrea Kyte and husband, Mike, Brian Harris and wife, Connie, Patti Richardson and husband, Tim, and Steven Harris and wife, Diane; great-nieces and nephews, Piper and James Lowrey, Zach Lowrey, Alianne Bacon and husband, Jeff, and Erica Arena and husband, Robert, and Theo Kyte, Timmy Richardson and wife, Veronica, and Charlyn Richardson, and Taylor and Lane Harris; great-great niece and nephew, Annabella and Jonathan Bacon, and other relatives and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, King Webb and Lake Tarpley; her sister, Janita Harris, and her parents, E.C .and Cloris Cundiff McKinley. She was born on January 26, 1927, in Melrose, NM, and graduated from Melrose High School. She attended Eastern New Mexico University where she obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. Wanda taught for many years at the Tucumcari Elementary School. She loved to garden, travel and read. Wanda was a loving sister and aunt and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at the Center Street Methodist Church, 406 E. Center Street on Friday, January 15, 2010, 10:30 a.m. Private interment will take place at the Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wanda's name to the charity of your choice.
