Obituary
Patsy McKinley Clark of Baird, Texas passed away Friday, November 26, 2004 in an Abilene hospital after a short illness. A graveside services was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ross Cemetery with John Belcher officiating. Services were under the direction of Parker Funeral Home.
"Pat was born October 9, 1934 to Sumner and Iris Ferguson McKinley on the Morris Ranch in Coleman County. She attended school at Oplin, Novice and San Marcos Baptist Academy. After graduating, she attended Tarleton State University. She loved horses and from the age of three, she helped with the roundups at the Morris Ranch. At age 11, she started competing in rodeos. She was one of the first female members of the Tarleton rodeo team and in 1953, she was the national collegiate champion barrel racer. She published three cookbooks and was cooking editor for two newspapers.
"She is survived by her husband, Jim Clark of Baird; seven children and 12 grandchildren, Bob Rice, wife, Ruby and his children: Zack, Ross and Alicia of Spring, Texas; Becky Adams and her children: Marla, Mathew and Shelley of Montgomery, Texas; Ben Rice, wife Janise and their children, Benjamin, Jordin and Tiffany of Tomball, Texas; Cy Clark of Houston, Texas; Jay Clark of Cedar Park, Texas; Jeff Clark, wife, Cindy and their children, Amber and Preston; Kim Holland, husband Russell and son Jim Tom (J. T.) of Moran, Texas.
"Memorials may be made to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch in Abilene, Texas or the Baird Cemetery Association at P. O. Box 745, Baird,Texas 78504."
