Obituary
Calvin Walker, 82, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Montfort Jones Hospital, Kosciusko. Thomas Calvin Walker was born Feb. 11, 1926, in the Walker Gin Community of Clay County, the son of the late Pearl Ellis Walker and William Abercrombie Walker. He was a supervisor with the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission for 25 years. He was a Baptist and a Veteran of World War II. He was married to Ann Moore Walker, who predeceased him on Sept. 28, 1996. Four brothers and three sisters also predeceased him Funeral services are today, May 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Coggins officiating. Private graveside services will follow in Palestine Cemetery in Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Gayle Kennedy (Foster),and sons, Mike Walker and Donnie Walker (Millie), all of West Point; six grandchildren: Claire Kennedy, Mary Clift Hitt, Brent Waker, Anna Walker, Brandon Walker (Amanda), and Caitlyn Walker; and sisters: Billie White of Starkville, and Betty Johnson of Mantee. Pallbearers will be Bruce Johnson, Bernie White, Steve Walker, Brent Walker, Brandon Walker, and Robert Miller. Honorary pallbearers are caregivers at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home, and all of his former co-workers with the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission.
