Obituary
Mr. Bobby Barnes of Roxton passed away Monday afternoon, October 10 at Paris. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday in the Restland Cemetery in Roxton with Scott Gaylon officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Thursday at the cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was born in Milton,Texas on February 5, 1934, the son of James Nathan Barnes and Emma Rook Barnes. He graduated from Cunningham High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany from 1956 to 1958. Jana Shepherd and he were married on July 16, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Cooper. He had worked for Asplundh Tree Service and the Phelps Dodge Copper Mine before starting a career with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at Pat Mayse Lake and Maxey House. He became the manager of the Cooper Lake State Park and retired in August 1996 after 15 years. He loved the Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers and Roxton Lions. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes, especially with "Grands". He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; James, Hoyt(Jud),Donald Ray(Bo), a sister Mary Faye Barnes and an infant sister Vernon Maxine Barnes.
He is survived by his wife;Jana Barnes of Roxton,a son;Mickey Barnes and wife Sharon of Roxton, a sister, Sue King and husband Scott of Broadway, two grandchildren;Brody and Dalton Barnes, and several nieces and nephews.
