SHERMAN Texas (Sp.) - A triple funeral service has been set for a Sherman man, his wife and their young son who were asphyxiated in their sleep when a slow-burning fire sent smoke through their home here early Saturday.
Services for Mr. and Mrs. David Lee Jones, both 22, and their son Darrell Lee Jones, 3, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Forest Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Holloway Cemetery south of Sherman.
All three were in the same bedroom when they were asphyxiated by smoke from the fire, which firemen said began under the floor furnace in the living room of the home. The fire had apparently been burning slowly for several hours.
Jones, a native of Oklahoma City, was manager of a 7-Eleven store here. His wife was a lifelong resident of Sherman, and was an employe of the Johnson & Johnson plant here. The child was born in Sherman.
Jones is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Merritt, one borther and two sisters. Mrs. Jones is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Burroughs, two brothers and one sister.
