  Obituary   DAINGERFIELD -- Graveside services for Homer R. Young, 75, of Lone Star, will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Avinger Cemetery in Avinger, with the Rev. Jerry Turner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Homer was born December 30, 1930, in Avinger, and he died Saturday, July 1, 2006, in Longview. He was a Baptist, veteran of the U.S. Army, and taught physical education and health for Daingerfield--Lone Star ISD. Coach Young was an assistant coach on the 1968, 1983, and 1985 Daingerfield Tigers state football championship teams. He also was the head basketball coach and won the 1977 state championship with the Daingerfield Tigers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Church and Dosia Young. Survivors include his wife, Sue Young of Lone Star; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and David Smith of Longview; sisters and brother-in-law, Eris Davis of Lone Star, Virginia McDaniel of Daingerfield, and Mary and Harold Carlisle of Coushatta, La.; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Gale Young of Avinger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty and Jerry Pratt of Daingerfield, and Donna and Bill Freeman of Daingerfield; grandchildren, Sawyer and Kinsey Smith of Longview; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Longview Cancer Center, 1300 N. Fourth St., Longview, TX 75601. No public visitation is scheduled at the funeral home.
