Mrs. Fontaine died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born Feb. 23, 1920 to Eddie Moses and Jessie Cross in Denison, Texas. She was one of ten children, "two of which are still with us", Dale Akins of Fort Worth and Hazel James of Lubbock. She grew-up in the Shallowater and the New Deal area (then called Monroe Area). She married Francis M. Fontaine who preceded her in death in October of 1982. She was employed in the retail industry for 20 years. She worked in the mens department at Hemphill-Wells for 17 years and for Young Esquire for three years.

She will be missed greatly by two daughters and sons-in law, Barbara and Bill Teston of New Deal and Donna and Jerry Burgess of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and the 5th generation of eight great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends.
