Obituary
Doris Evelyn Evans passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at an Arlington medical center. Her body was donated to medical science at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Grand Prairie, Troy Singleton officiating.
Doris was born July 20, 1927, in Lubbock, to Lela M. and Mercer "Chick" Akins. She married Douglas C. Evans Sr. on May 23, 1976. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to read and volunteered at the hospital for many years. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling with her husband and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Douglas Evans Jr. and Gary Jackson; sister, Joyce Koch; and parents.
Survivors: Son, Larry Jackson and wife, Shirley, of Arlington; daughters, Katie Knox of Sherman, Elaine Hood husband, Billy, of Whitehouse; daughters-in-law, Diana "Dee" Evans of Grand Prairie and Cindy Jackson of Granbury; sister, Billie Cooper of North Richland Hills; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
