      Bettye Jane Holly, 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Bettye was born April 6, 1934, in Texarkana to William and Mary Walthall. She was a member of Birdville Baptist Church and was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1984. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Malcolm L. Akins Jr., in 1988; and stepson, Buddy Holly, in 2006. Survivors: Husband, J.B. Holly Jr.; daughter, Debbie Akins; stepdaughter, Patricia Scott and husband, Cecil; stepson, Mike Holly; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
