      Jesse Douglas Akins


      Died Jan. 24, 2005


      Jesse Douglas Akins, 77, of Martin died Monday at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center.


      Born to the late Jesse Linton Akins and Arminda Cash Akins, he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Mullins Ford Baptist Church. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Liddie Lou Ellen Sosby Akins; and sons, Alan Akins and Tim Akins


      Survivors include his daughters, Judy Thomason, Martin, and Jane Chandler, Sugar Hill; sisters, Eugenia Shaw, Conyers, and Edna Ford, Tucker; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


      The family received friends Monday night at the funeral home.


      Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. The Rev. Truitt Brawner will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Memorial Gardens, Tucker.
