ODESSA Vonnie Lee Coursey passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Sherwood Place of Odessa at the age of 101.
She was born on August 27, 1909, in Edgewood, TX to Perry and Docia (Rainey) Smith. She was the postmaster in Pyote, Texas for thirty years, retiring in 1988. She was Methodist.
She is survived by her children, sons, Perry Coursey of Lubbock, Harold Coursey of Odessa and Max Coursey of Houston; daughters, Lois Holt of Odessa and Mary Downing of Clifton; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great- grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. What a legacy!
Her parents, Perry and Docia Smith; husband, Olen Coursey; daughter, Leta V. Russell; granddaughters, Donna Kirk and LaNeta Windham; and great-grandson, Jason Windham, precede her in death.
Family visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at the Pyote Community Church in Pyote, TX, officiated by Bro. Bill Campbell, assisted by Pastor Ryan Dennis. Interment will follow at the Pyote Cemetery. Pallbearers will all be grandsons. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and online condolences may be sent at acreswestfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Coursey's name may be made to the Pyote Community Church.

JACK COURSEY RITES TO BE HELD TODAY
O. D.(Jack) Coursey, 58, of Pyote, died at 8:10 p.m. Friday in Ward Memorial Hospital after a two-year illness.
He was bom Oct. 30, 1908 in Canton and had been a Pyote resident 22 years. He was a mechanic and a Methodist.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Pyote Methodist Church with burial in Pyote
Cemetery directed by Hammond Funeral Home.
Mr. Coursey was married Sept. 16, 1927 in Colfax to Mrs. Vonnie L. Smith.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Leta Russell of Hobbs. N. M., Mrs. Lois Holt of Odessa, and Mrs. Mary Downing of Painesville, Ohio; and three sons, Perry Coursey of Spearman, Roland Coursey of Odessa and Olen Max Coursey of Pyote; four brothers, John Coursey of Big Spring, Kenneth, Lloyd, and Leon
Coursey, all of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Elaine Connell of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
