M. D. Givens Passes Away
Mr. M. D. Givens, for years one of Linden's most prominent business men, passed away at his home here yesterday at 12:40, after a lingering illness of several months.
Funeral services will be held at the family residence this evening at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S. R. Smith, former pastor of the Baptist Church here. Following the funeral service the Masons will take charge of the body and perform their burial service at the Linden cemetery.
Mr. Givens was 48 years of age and had lived in and near Linden all his life; and was a member of the Christian Church. Besides bring at the head of Linden's most progressive and up-to-date general mercantile establishment, he was the president of the First National Bank of our city, andpresident of the Chamber of Commerce. He will be greatly missed here, as he was always in the front ranks of those pulling for the advancement and betterment of the community.
Mr. Givens is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Sansing, and two sisters, Mrs. S. E. Erwin, Linden, and Mrs. P. T. Nipper, Marshall.
