• Notes

  Guardianship (after his father's - and presumably - mother's death) First assigned to James and Nancy Coursey (grandparents). Second assigned to Colonel Clark Howell on December 1, 1870.  Colonel Clark Howell was a participant on a Buck Head District committe for people who wanted to emigrate to the Kansas territory.  He had a son named Captain Evan P. Howell. In 1850, Clark Howell lived in the only brick residence in Atlanta.  He was the editor in chief of the Atlanta Constitution (newspaper).  He later sold out to his son Evan.  He also served in the Georgia Legislature.
