Obituary
Theo Virginia Hughes was born July 26, 1925 in Edgewood, TX to Perry and Docia (Rainey) Smith, the youngest of seven siblings. She passed away March 20, 2017. She married Sheldon "Ward" Hughes in 1960, and they had two sons, David Ward Hughes, and Thomas Daniel Hughes. Virginia grew up on the family farm in Edgewood. She attended North Texas State University in the 1940's then began working to support the war effort. Following World War II she worked for Lone Star Gas, in Dallas. Virginia worked together with Ward in 1968 when he founded the Ward Hughes Company. Virginia managed the office and remained active in the business until 2000. Virginia was a longtime member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker, and proud grandmother. Virginia is survived by her son, David Hughes and his wife Beverly, son Thomas Hughes and his wife Cynthia; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, and Joseph Hughes; and Nash and Eleanor Hughes. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Presbyterian Village North Arbor Place staff for the gentle, loving way she was treated while under their excellent care. Mom loved her life at PVN because of you. Graveside service to be held Friday, March 31, 2017 10:30am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood, TX. Reception following at Chetham Memorial Methodist Church.
