      1932 - Obituary appeared in the Canton Herald on Nov 25 1932.  Funeral was directed by the Hilliard Undertaking Co. (Canton, TX) and burial was on Thursday (Nov 17 1932).  Rev. M. I. Brown of the Methodist Church (Murchison, TX) officiated.  Birthplace is noted as being in Shelby County, TN on Aug 17 1855 (DISPUTED IN BOTH PLACE AND YEAR AS MATH DOESN'T ADD UP, AND ALL CENSUS DATA SHOWS SHE WAS BORN IN MISSISSIPPI - SECOND CHILD BORN IN MS, ALL PREVIOUS WERE BORN IN SHELBY COUNTY TN.  DEATH CERTIFICATE SAYS 1845).  She is noted as having been a Methodist from a young age.  She was married at age 18 (DISPUTED, AS SHE WAS MARRIED IN 1866 AT THE AGE OF 21).  A male child  is noted as having died in infancy, and one girl child dying at age 63.  She is noted as having been 87 year, 2 months, and 29 days old at the time of her death.  DEATH CERTIFICATE SHOWS WRONG MONTH OF DEATH (OCT VS. NOV).

      Mrs. Caroline Truitty Rast, who resided in the Cream Level community died at the family home on Wednesday, November 16. Interment, under the direction of the Hilliard Undertaking Co., Canton, took place in the Holly Springs cemetery on Thursday, Nov. 17, with Rev. M.I. Brown, pastor of the Methodist church at Murchison, in charge. Mrs. Rast was born in Shelby county, Tennessee, on August 17, 1855. Early in life she was converted and joined the Methodist church and lived a Christian life, always true to the vows of her church. At the age of eighteen she was united in marriage to D.M. Rast, to which union was born seven children, six girls and one boy. All of these children are living except two, the boy dying in infancy and the other child dying at the age of 63. Mr. Rast died thirty-one years ago. Mrs. Rast was 87 years old, 2 months and 29 days at the time of her death.

      Note:  This obituary has conflicting information with regards to marriage age (Tishomingo/Alcorn County Marriage License - she was 21 years old at time of marriage) and death year (87 years back from 1932 equals 1845, not 1855).  There is also conflicting information with regards to the death month and day (Texas Death certificate shows October 16, 1932 whereas the obituary shows November 16, 1932); however, we have sided with the obituary information based on the dates of publication and funeral information.
