• Notes

  Misc. Notes   1871 - Rode a mule ("Dutch") to Texas from Tennessee.  First lived in the Carter settlement (now Mount Pisgah Community). 1876 - Purchased land and made a home in the Rainey's Chapel Community (named in his honor). 1913 - Died at home at 2:30PM CST, 3miles south of Edgewood, TX (Rainey's Chapel?) from lung troubles.  Funeral and burial were held on Oct 4 1913 (same day of death) in the evening.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William A. Dawson of the Presbyterian Church and Rev. James W. Saucier of the Congregation Church (Fruitvale, TX).  Obituary appeared in the Edgewood Enterprise, Oc 23 1913 (reprinted on Nov 23 1913 in the Wills Point Chronicle).
