      Rubye Louise Brown Kessler, 89, died June 13, 2001 at Effingham Extended Care Facility. 

      The native of Americus lived in Rincon the past 73 years. She was a retired schoolteacher and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She taught school in Effingham County, where she was named Outstanding Elementary School Teacher of America in 1973 and 1975. She was a lifetime member of the Rincon PTA and a member of the Georgia Association of Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a charter member of the Rincon Garden Club and a life member of the Lutheran Church Women (L. C. W. ) She was the widow of Vaden Edward Kessler. 

      SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and James Dostal of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Brown and Denise Kessler of Atlanta; a sister, Ira Lois Brown of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Sandra Ruth Dostal and Elizabeth Louise Dostal, both of Savannah; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

      VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Homes, Effingham Chapel. 

      SERVICE: 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, burial in Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
