Callie W. Kessler , retired developer, builder of Days Inns
Rincon - The funeral for Callie W. Kessler, a Rincon native and a retired builder and developer, will be at 10 a.m. today at Jerusalem Lutheran Church near Rincon, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Kessler, 77, died Thursday of complications from surgery at Emory University Hospital.
A member of the board of directors, he organized the construction of the New Ebenezer Retreat and Conference Center in 1975. He also spent many hours at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, constructing the Sunday school building and renovating the historic church sanctuary.
After building several Days Inns in Georgia and South Carolina in the early 1970s, he became vice president of construction for Days Inns of America.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Dickerson Kessler; three children, Mary Ann Kessler Berry of Bowling Green, Ky., Marilyn Kessler Doyle of Winter Park, Fla., and Richard Callie Kessler of Orlando; two sisters, Rosa Mae Wilde of Garden City and Ila Ziegler of Rincon; and three grandchildren.
