L. O. Helmly Victim of Tragic Accident Will be Buried From Ebenezer Church Today
Funeral services for L. O. Helmly, who accidentally shot himself Tuesday evening while on a fishing trip near Rincon, will be held at 11 o'clock today from Ebenezer Church. Dr. M. J. Epting, assisted by Rev. John S. Wilder, officiating. Accompanied by his father-in-law, H. S. Zipperer, and his brother-in-law, H. B. Exley and Mr. Helmly went fishing on the Savannah river early Tuesday morning. About dusk that evening as part was landing to make camp for the night, Mr. Helmly in dragging some equipment from the boat, happened to bring the muzzel of a shotgun against his abdomen. In someway the gun was fired. Death was almost instantaneous.
Mr. Helmly is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sheddy Helmly; his widow, Mrs. Goldie B. Helmly; three children, Beatrice, aged 5; Rosalie, aged 4 and Iver, the infant son; three brothers, William E., Edward V. and Cecil Helmly of Savnnah, and six sisters, Mrs. C. B. Exley, Mrs. A. W. Kessler, Mrs. M. C. Exley, Miss Georgia Helmly of Rincon, Mrs. F. L. Ackerman, Mrs. G. W. Kessler of Savannah.

Funeral services for Loy O. Helmly, who accidentally shot himself Tuesday evening while on a fishing trip near Rincon, were held yesterday from Ebenezer Church. Rev. M. J. Epting, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church assisted by Rev. E. F. K. Roof, pastor of Ebenezer Church, conducted the services. Pallbearers were S. L. Waldhour, J. C. Helmly, S. E. Helmly, I. E. Helmly, G. D. Zipperer and H. W. Helmly.
