      William E. Helmly, 65, died Thursday, November 8, of a heart attack while on a hunting trip in Bulloch County. He was district manager of the Life Insurance Company of Georgia. He was a steward of the Statesboro First Methodist Church, a member of the Statesboro Rotary Club and a member of the Alee Temple of the Shrine.


      Survivors are his wife, Mrs. W. E. Helmly of Statesboro of Statesboro; a daughter, Miss Shirley Helmly of Garden City and Rev. Cecil C. Helmly of Lone Star, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Meldrim Exley of Rincon, Mrs. Annie Kessler and Mrs. Frank Ackerman of Savannah and Mrs. Frank Wessinger of Chapin, S.C., and several nieces and nephews.


      Funeral services for Mr. Helmly were held Friday afternoon, November 9, at 3 o'clock from the Statesboro First Methodist Church with the Rev. L.D. Shippey conducting the services. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery. Nephews served as active pallbearers. Smith-Tillman Mortuary.
