Charles ‘Chock’ Holt
Charles Holt, 74, of Odessa passed away January 3, 2006 at Hospice House. Chock was born in Wink, Texas on January 31, 1931 to Sam and Neda Carriger Holt. He was married on August 20, 1955 to Lois Coursey in Pyote, Texas and celebrated their 50th anniversary this past August. He graduated from Pyote High School in 1949, served in U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and graduated from Texas A&M with an engineering degree in 1958. He retired from Reed Tool Company with over 30 years of service as an engineer and was fondly known as “The Bit Doctor” out in the oilfield. He was a member of the professional engineer association and served for many years as a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, bird watching, and MOJO football! He loved woodworking & photography but most of all he dearly loved his wife, children, grand & great grandchildren, his sister & twin brother, his nieces & nephews, the in-laws and outlaws! He is survived by his wife Lois, daughter Deann Messa of Houston, daughter Janis & husband Mark Farquhar of Midland, son Rusty Holt and Wife Cindy of Midland, sister Bonnie Guthrie of Burnett, TX and twin brother Bob Holt & wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas, five grandchildren Mason Williams, Heather Hartman, John Crambell, Amber Messa, and Brittney Brown. Four great grandchildren Sebastian, Ashton & Julian Williams and Zackary Hartman. A memorial celebration service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday January 7th at Asbury United Methodist Church in Odessa, Texas. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Odessa and to Asbury United Methodist Church.
