  Obituary   Matilda Pittman SPHINGFIELD - Mrs Matilda, Helmly Shipes Pittman, 89, died Tuesday at Effingham Hospital after a long ill- ness. She was born in Effingham County, and was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She had been a Pink Lady at Effingham Hospital " Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Weaver of Clyo; two sons, Charles Snipes of Rincon and J.T. Shipes of Springfield; a stepson, Frank Pittman of Springfield; a sister, Pearla Jerald of Garden City; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Thomas C.
