      Shipes , Charles Nicholas
      Rincon - Charles Nicholas Shipes, 74, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Effingham Hospital.


      The Effingham County native was the son of Edward Shipes and Matilda Helmey Shipes.


      He retired from Union Camp and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.


      Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kernan Shipes of Rincon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eddie and Earlette Shipes of Sylvania, Andy and Tammie Shipes of Rincon, Lee Shipes of Rincon; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John Thomas and Betty Shipes of Springfield; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Weaver, of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews.


      Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


      Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel.


      Interment: Rincon Cemetery.
