      Billy Hinely
      (Died April 30, 2012)

      William Thomas "Billy" Hinely

Rincon- William Thomas "Billy" Hinely, 78, passed away on April 30, 2012 at Effingham Extended Care Facility after a long illness.

He was born in Savannah, moved with his family to Tampa, FL for a number of years, and later moved back to Effingham County with his family for the remainder of his life. He graduated from old Rincon High School. He began his career at Union Camp Corporation in Savannah, retiring as a mill maintenance superintendent after 41 years of service.

He was a lifetime member of Goshen United Methodist Church serving in numerous positions. He taught the Adult Sunday School Class for over 35 years. Of all his many property holdings he acquired throughout his lifetime, not one held the special place in his heart as the 18 acre farm he purchased on Ebenezer Road after he was first married and where he raised his three children. He raised and sold various forms of livestock on this farm including cattle and hogs as well as planting and harvesting several acres of feed. He loved tending to his large vegetable garden each and every year for most of his life. Even though he moved his family from the farm in 1970, the property still resides in the family today and is forevermore known as the "Old Place". He loved the water whether it was fishing at Ebenezer Creek, boating on the Savannah River, shrimping in the Broad River at his SC place, or vacationing at the beach in St. Petersburg, FL.

"Powee" was an exceptionally gentle man, a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a loyal friend. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Thomas and Evelyn Morgan Hinely, as well as his younger brother of four years, Edgar Hinely.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Omie Exley Hinely of Rincon; a sister Fay Hinely Waldhour of Rincon; a daughter, Debra Hinely Calhoun of Springfield; two sons, Mark Thomas Hinely of Newington and Dale William Hinely of Springfield; a son-in-law, Christopher Kellton Calhoun of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Ambrose Hinely of Newington; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
