      SAVANNAH - Charles Ernest Tuttle, Jr., 90, of Savannah, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at Savannah Square Rehab Center. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Kincey Tuttle, and his parents, Charles Ernest Tuttle, Sr., and Estelle Chapman Tuttle. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, served as a Greeter, and a member of the Administrative Board of the Church.


      He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Signal Corps, Company C 926 Signal Battalion. He served in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAMET Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and WW II Victory Medal. He was discharged Dec 19, 1945 at Camp Gordon, Ga. He was retired as superintendent of ILA 1475, and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge # 183 for 32 years.


      He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Tuttle, of North Charleston, SC; two sons and a daughter in law , Charles E. Tuttle, III (Sheryl), of Charleston, SC; and Kenneth M. Tuttle (Susan Strobel) of Savannah, GA; 2 grandchildren, Eric (Ellen) Tuttle, Jenna (Brett) Baskin, and a great grandchild, Ella Baskin, of Charleston, S.C. a sister, Harriett T. Martin of Savannah, GA; and 3 brothers, Francis Chapman (Nocoleta) Tuttle, Sr., of Concord, NC; Daniel C. Tuttle of Dunwoody, GA; Jerry (Beverly) Tuttle of Vidalia, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.


      Visitation: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 7, 2015 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 7, 2015 in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Gary Cubbedge, and Rev. Heath Coker, officiating.
