Obituary
Guyton - Mrs. Charles T. Brown, age 101, of Guyton died January 2l, 2007 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Barbara and Bill Brown. Mrs. Brown was born in Guyton, GA. in 1905. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Bart and Mrs. Clyde White Cubbedge, her husband of 56 years, Dr. Charles T. Brown, Jr., and son C. Truman Brown, III. Mrs. Brown attended Valdosta State College and received a dietician's degree from Emory University. She initiated a school lunch program in the Guyton Schools. She was a recognized Conservationist and an avid gardener. Mrs. Brown was a charter member of the American Camellia Society, a life member of the Georgia Salzburger Society, the Guyton Women's Club, and the Effingham Historical Society. She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church and an honorary member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She is survived by three children: Barbara Brown Briley and husband Al, Jeannette Brown Trott and husband Alan, and Bill Brown and wife Barbara; fourteen grandchildren; twenty- five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the afternoon at graveside in the Guyton Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. Memorials may be sent to the Guyton Women's Club, c/o Claudette Griffin, P.O. Box 128, Guyton, GA 31312. Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, was in charge of all arrangements.
