Benjamin H. Snider, son of Benjamin Snider I and Margaret F. Waldron Snider was born December 31, 1840. He was given his father's name as given to a little brother who had died two years earlier. The two little brothers were laid to rest in the Snider Vault of his ancestors in Colonial Park Cemetery, Savannah's old historical burial ground. A 22 year old sister, Julia Ann, died in 1847 and was laid to rest with the two little brothers. Their father died in Havana, Cuba, in 1852 and his remains returned to Savannah for burial. Their widowed mother bought two lots, #449 and #450 in Savannah's Laurel Grove North Cemetery before moving to Macon, Georgia and had her immediate family moved there from Colonial Park Cemetery. In time this new Snider Plot in Laurel Grove Cemetery held the remains of the parents, Benjamin and Maragret and six of their fourteen children including this little son.
