      Joanne Cooper "JJ" Gray, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at her home surrounded by family members, in Falls Church, Virginia. She was born July 9, 1932, to the Rev. Olin Cecil Cooper, UMC, and Emily Webb Cooper in Hagan, Georgia. She is survived by her twin brother, John Taylor "Jack" Cooper; her children, Roger Clarke Gray, Jr., Diane Patricia Gray and Mary Webb "Sky" Gray; her grandchildren, Melissa Joanne Paulk Ni, Jamie Dyan Paulk, Micah Lee Paulk, Thomas Clarke Gray and Sarita Joanne Gray; her great-grandchildren, Emilie Charlotte Paulk, Nathaniel Roger Ni and Elizabeth Anne Ni; her daughter-in-law, Mary Tod Haley Gray; her son-in-law, Roy Jackson Dodd; her future daughter-in-law, Yolanda Basoco Briscoe, her grandson-in-law, Steve Jauming Ni; her brother-in-law, Commander Walter Ernest Saunders, USN, and her sisters-in-law, Myrna Drew Cooper, Dorothy Cox Cooper, Sissy Neal Cooper and Marjorie Smith Gray; her great-niece Cheryl Montine Mansell, as well as her many nieces and nephews and other great-nieces and great-nephews. Her parents; her husband, Colonel Roger Clarke Gray, Sr., USAF (Ret.); her brothers, Olin Cecil Cooper, Jr., and Joel Webb Cooper; her sisters, Dorothy Cooper Saunders and Velma Cooper Knapp; her brother-in-law Emerson Monroe Gray preceded her in death. Joanne, an Air Force officer's wife, travelled the world prior to starting her own successful small business in Virginia. The daughter of a United Methodist minister, she possessed a deep faith in God. Her life as a Christian inspired her generosity and guided her loving relationships. Her family and friends will miss her boundless energy, tenacity and kind spirit. MURPHY FALLS CHURCH FUNERAL HOME 1102 W. Broad St. (Rt.7) will host a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19. The memorial service will be held at Charles Wesley United Methodist Church in McLean, Virginia, at 1 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Charles Wesley United Methodist Church, 6817 Dean Dr., McLean, VA 22101 or the Olin Cooper Fund/G17, a scholarship fund for Methodist seminary students administered through The South Georgia United Methodist Foundation, Inc, PO Box 61416, Savannah, Georgia 31420. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Charles Wesley United Methodist Church, 6817 Dean Dr., McLean, VA 22101 or the Olin Cooper Fund/G17, a scholarship fund for Methodist seminary students administered through The South Georgia United Methodist Foundation, Inc, PO Box 61416, Savannah, Georgia 31420.
