      Mr. W. Ray Crane, 89
Kerrville - W. Ray Crane, 89, passed from this life at a local health care facility on Monday evening, October 12, 2009.

Born in Franklin, TX on February 19, 1920, he was one of nine children born to Charles and Verna (Furgerson) Crane.

On May 30, 1941, he married the love of his life, Blanche M Knox in NY State.

Ray served in the US Navy Seabees during WWII.

After the war, he came home to his wife and they started a wonderful life that took them 68 years.

In PA, he owned a custom kitchen cabinet shop. He and Blanche moved to TX and he began his career as a machinist, working for Dow Chemical, then had been in partnership in a machine shop.

Once they retired, Ray and Blanche traveled for the next 25 years in their Airstream, and called the Airstream Park in Zavalla, TX home.

He made many friends throughout his life and never once refused anyone help.

Ray is predeceased by his parents and 6 brothers.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife of 68 years, Blanche M. (Knox) Crane of Kerrville; his children, Nanette "Nan" (Mrs. Pat) Green of Kerrville and Larry Crane of Thousand Oaks, CA; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Beth and Madelyn both of NY state, and many nieces and nephews.

      There is no visitation.

A celebration of his life will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home, Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2:00PM with Pastor Richard Martin of the Ranchero Road Baptist Church, officiating.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations in his name be made to the American Cancer Society.
