Obituary
Hilda Gene Turner, 84, passed away on Friday evening, Dec. 1, 2006, with her family by her side. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.
Gene was born in Comanche, Texs, to the late Verdo Harmon Fergurson and Myrtle Fergurson. She graduated from Comanche High School where she was a cheerleader, twirler and a member of the basketball team, and was a graduate of a Dallas Business School before beginning her career as a secretary. She was employed in the State Legislature Offices, served as church secretary at Western Heights Baptist Church and retired as a secretary for Waco Independent School District. She was a lifelong Baptist and a faithful member of Western Heights Baptist Church for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Turner; her cherished youngest child, Ronald Timothy Turner; and a brother, Don Fergurson.
She is survived by daughter, Sherry Tusa and husband, Leonard, of Waco; son, Gary Turner and wife, Sharron, of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Marti Turner, of Waco; grandchildren, Craig Tusa, Christine Tusa, Tamara Romano, Cameron Turner, and Dylan Turner; and great-grandchildren, Spencer Parrett, Cameron Turner, II and Ashton Turner; and brother, Herman Fergurson, of Fort Worth.
