Obituary
Funeral services for Monterey “Monty” Windham Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Bel-Aire Baptist Church with Shawn Drake and Russell Hill officiating. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Bel - Aire Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Mr. Windham, 61, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at his home. He was born March 28, 1944, in Anadarko, Okla. He married LaNeta Russell on April 14, 1972, in Lovington, N.M. He was raised around Oplin, Texas, mostly by his grandparents, Hillary and Ellen Windham. He served in the U.S. Navy, moving to Hobbs after his discharge. He worked for Hobbs Cablevision, GTE and Caprock Communications, where he was known as the best radio tower climber in the country. He later joined
the oilfield as a salesman and spent the last 20 years with Banta Oilfield Service. He loved to fish and play forty-two.
Survivors include his wife, LaNeta of the home; a daughter, Melissa Reeves and husband Ted of Flower Mound, Texas; two sons, Michael Scott and wife Daisha of San Diego, Calif., and Dusty Windham of Hobbs, N.M.; three grandchildren, Ryan and Ross Reeves and Destiny Windham; his mother, Pat Windham of Wichita Falls,
Texas; three sisters, Patsy Tussey of Ocean Springs, Miss., Barbara Gladden of Abilene, Texas; and Jan Hillen of Wichita Falls, Texas; his mother-in-law, Leta
Russell of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Linda Richardson of Enid, Okla., and Donna Kirk of Lake Buchannon Dam, Texas; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Windham; his grandparents, Hillary and Ellen Windham; and his father, Monterey Windham.
