      Services for Earl R. Swinford, 74, loving father, brother, uncle, musician, teacher and friend of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at South Plains Church of Christ, 6802 Elkhart with Gary Evans and Chris Swinford officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.


      Earl Ray Swinford was born May 25, 1932 in Henrietta to the late Oley and Hazel (Freemen) Swinford. Earl graduated from Frenship High School in 1950. He married Patsy Ruth Adkins Nov. 26, 1952. She preceded him in death March 25, 2006. Mr. Swinford was a charter member of South Plans Church of Christ and also served as an elder.


      Mr. Swinford is preceded in death by a brother Sammy Allen Swinford.


      He is survived by a son, Brian Swinford and wife Cathy; grandchildren Megan and John Landon, of Plano; two brothers Jerry Swinford and wife Sylvia of Lubbock, Rep. David Swinford and wife Joyce and one sister- in-law Jimmie Swinford Urban, all of Dumas; and a host of many loving nieces and nephews.


      The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Richard Henderson and staff and to the firefighters at Station #3, A-shift.
