Obituary
Edward Eugene "Yank" DuLaney Jr., 90, died Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Dogwood Village of Orange, Virginia after years of declining health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene DuLaney Sr. and Gladys Parker DuLaney; and his brother, William Parker DuLaney, Sr. He is survived by his children, Mark DuLaney and fianc‚e, Kristy Marks, and William DuLaney (Amy); his grandchildren, India, Bradley, Lillian, Cruz, June, and Wyatt; his sister-in-law, Ruth Laird DuLaney; his nieces and nephew; and close family friend, Susannah Tyler and children. Mr. DuLaney was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later settled in Virginia where he lived in various cities including Richmond, Lynchburg, Gordonsville, and Orange. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (Richmond) in 1944 and then honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1945-46. In his long life, he had a passion for horses and belonged to various fox hunting clubs. His passion led him to be a Master of Hounds at the Bedford Hunt Club, as well as a member of the Keswick and Bull Run Hunt Clubs. He also enjoyed golf, cooking, and a stiff martini. His sweet tooth was mighty and explained the gallons of ice cream always found in his freezer. His witty remarks and kind spirit will be missed. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 8, 2016,at 12 p.m., a reception to follow at North Pamunkey Baptist Church, 15110 Pamunkey Lane, Orange, VA 22960.
