      Funeral Held Sunday for Manley Boy

      BURKBURNETT, Texas, July 5 - Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon for Wyatt Walton Manley, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walton W. Manley, who was drowned Saturday night in a farm tank northeast of Devol.


      The rites were conducted by Rev. A. B. Hughes, the pastor, at the Devol Baptist Church and burial was in the Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of the Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.


      The boy was drowned as he and several other youths were swimming in teh tank, near Cedric Scholl.  Young Manley and Dan Weaver, 9, remainted in the water as the others went to a farmhouse a short distance away.  When the two boys returned to the tank and found that Manley had disappeared.


      The body was recovered an hour and a half later but more than four hours of effort to revive him failed.  The Burkburnett Fire Department's first aid squad used an inhalator in the resuscitation effort.


      The youth is survived by his parents; two brothers, Robert L. and Leonard Neal Manley, both of Devol, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Manley Sr., Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Coursey of Shasta, Calif.
