He graduated from Tivy High School in 1961 and remained close with his classmates throughout the years. He was proud to be a member of the United States Marine Corps, completing a full tour of duty in Vietnam before returning home, meeting and marrying Vickie in 1971. His musical talents were the stuff of legend, with the love he felt for his Martin guitar second only to his love of his family.

He is survived by his wife, their children, Cara and William, and 6 grandchildren. Carl goes to meet his brothers and parents, all of whom preceded him in death.

A luncheon will be held at Meadows Baptist Church on Wednesday at 12:30pm with Memorial Services following at 2:00. There will be a second memorial service held on June 30th in Kerrville, Tx. His ashes will be buried at both Center Point Cemetery, near Kerrville, and at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
