      The obituary for Jerry Jasper Thompson, Jr. was published in "The Gadsden Times"; newspaper; Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama: Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000

      Thompson, Jerry Jasper, Jr.

      Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Jerry Jasper Thompson, Jr., 72, Gadsden, who died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000. Dr. James Newell will officiate. Burial in Forrest Cemetery.

      Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.

      Mr. Thompson was a member of First Baptist Church of Gadsden where he previously served as deacon. He retired as a supervisor from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the medical corps.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Thompson; grandson, Cody Thompson; and brothers, Ray and Cecil Thompson.

      He is survived by his sons, Steve (Lynn) Thompson, Gadsden, David (Kim) Thompson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kristin, Matthew, Tyler, Derek, Emily and Summer Thompson; brothers, Ralph, Bernard and Paul Thompson; sisters, Eleanor Garrison, Ruby Malone, Flora Brumlow and Pauline Pride.

      The family will accept flowers of memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gadsden.

      Pallbearers will be Matthew Thompson, Charles Hall, Berbon Bynum, Paul Thompson, Bernard Thompson and Fred Duke.

      Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Arthur L. Ennis and Clarence Leath.
