Thressa Pearl Carrell, 73 of Dumas, stepped away from the arms of her family and into the arms of the Good Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 P.M. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with John Norman officiating. A private family burial will be held in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Thressa was born on May 24, 1939 on the banks of the Red River near Telephone, Texas. She lived in Dumas and Moore County area since 1957. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Wayne Carrell on October 23, 2006. She was a licensed realtor affiliated with Realty of the Southwest of Dumas and bookkeeper for the family business, Gear Drive Service of Sunray.
Thressa loved life and practiced living one day at a time to its fullest. She enjoyed football and spending time with family and friends telling stories. She was always one to never sugar coat what was on her mind and just "told it like it was." Thressa was always one to control the conversation and if you ever disagreed with what she had to say she would usually end it with a "whatever." She was very independent, strong willed and stubborn; but her witty sense of humor and ability to make people laugh drew people toward her and allowed them to love her for everything that she was.
Thressa is survived by daughter: Delena Hays of Dumas and two sons: David Carrell of Dumas and Kelly Carrell of Miami; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family suggest that memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E 2nd, Dumas TX 79029.
The family will be at 601 Forrest.
