Erleen, the three and one half year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.L. Creech of Lewisville, died at the home of her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. T.P. Eddins, Tuesday afternoon. The funeral was held Wednesday at the home and conducted by Rev. G.W. Sanders, assisted by Rev. W.S. Dabney. The remains were taken to Oaklawn Cemetery and buried beside another baby which was taken from them only eight weeks ago. This makes their loss doubly hard in that they have had to give up both babies so near together. About ten days ago, Erleen had started to the pasture with her uncle, Thad, Jr. but before going very far fell and stuck a long splinter in her knee. It was gotten out immediately and seemed to heal, but several days ago tetanus developed and she lived only a short while. No words can lighten the blow that the loved ones have had sustained in this crushing sorrow. The yielding of these two babies to the courts of Heaven must and will leave to them a grief that is heartbreaking and they will feel so empty handed, but the little buds that blossomed so beautifully around them here are in that land where flowers never die. It is only the grace of Him who ever cares for His own that can comfort therm in their loss. The following from out of town were here to attend the funeral: Mr.& Mrs. D.W. Click and Mr.& Mrs. James Rudd of Paris, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Jones, Mr.& Mrs. E.L. Creech, Mrs. Floyd Woods and Arthur Creech of Ennis, Mrs. L.M. Murrah of Ft.Worth, Mrs. Johnnie Barnes of Dallas and Mr. & Mrs. Walter Creech of Arlington.

Virgie was born and grew up in Tennessee. As an adult, she received a letter from and began corresponding with a middle-aged Texan named Nathan Snider. He had been given her name and address by a mutual acquaintance. They wrote back and forth for awhile and Nathan made a trip to Tennessee to meet Virgie and her family. He returned to Texas without a bride. They had continued to write back and forth for a time when she received "the letter". In it, this Texan stated that he thought they had corresponded long enough and it was time for them to either get married or stop writing. She was aghast. She crumpled his letter, walked over and threw it in the fireplace. Then she quickly retrieved the letter from the fire and wrote back accepting his marriage proposal. Nathan went back to Tennessee, married his bride and took her back to Texas with him. The couple first lived in Midland, Texas, where a daughter, Jo Ella, was born. They then moved to Robertson County where Nathan was born and grew up. This bride from Tennessee was the love of Nathan's life. He cherished his Virgie and she nurtured and cared for him. When she died many years later, Nathan was devastated. His daughter and her family provided love and support. In time he moved to the Fort Worth area and a life without Virgie - but she was always there in his heart. His mind was clear and his memory still intact when he died at the age of ninety seven and was laid to rest by his Virgie..

| 648 | Charlie was 24 and Oleta 16 when he had to marry her. He lived in Burkburnett as did Oleta. Dove was with Oleta all night the night Mary Jo was born. They drove to Lawton, Oklahoma to marry in Oleta's fathers car. They never lived together, but he did want to keep Mary Jo. His mother Nancy M. said no to him because the Salyers were just too nice of people and very respected. Unsure, but maybe that is why he NEVER had anything to do with Mary Jo her entire life. They stayed married until Mary Jo was born. Charlie met Mary Jo once. He and his 2nd wife lived in Lawton, Okla. Mary Jo took pictures of her children with her and Jean Salyer Riddle drove with her. Mary Jo was loved by the entire Adkins family except by her father who deserted her. He invited them in to his home, but his wife was not sociable to them. He promised to keep in touch, but that never happened. The family assumes his second wife refused to allow it to happen even though there were no other children involved.
