Rites Satuday For Mrs. Warwick FORSYTH - Mrs. Georgia Bell Coursey Warwick, wife of the Rev. Adrian Warwick of Forsyth, Ga., died Thursday night at Pineworth Hospital in Macon. A native of Fulton County, she was a member of the First Methodist Church in Forsyth. The Rev. Warwick is a retired Methodist Minister and served several churches in and around Griffin including Kincaid Methodist, Sunny Side Methodist and Midway Methodist. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the First United Methodist in Forsyth. The Rev. Henry H. Jones and the Rev. T. J. Hughey will officiate and burial will be in East View Cemetery in Atlanta. Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. M. H. Trippe of Shelman, Ga. and Mrs. Margaret Warwick of Douglasville; three sons, William A. Warwick of Decatur, the Rev. Marvin L. Warwick of Chickasaw, Ala., Lewis A. Warwick of Dayton, Tenn., two sisters, Mrs. Emma Jewell and Miss Margaret Coursey; twp brothers, Clifford COursey and Clarence Coursey, all of Atlanta, 10 granchildren and four great grandchildren Her body was carried from McDonald Funeral Home to Forsyth this afternoon where it will remain until time of the funeral. | Coursey, Georgia Belle (I8615)

Rushing Sr., George Henry He was a life long resident of Richmond Hill and a member of Daniel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rushing. He is survived by two sons, George H. (Marie) Rushing, Jr. and Chris (Sheri) Rushing, both of Richmond Hill; sister, Virgie Lee Rahn of Savannah ; three grandchildren, Dustin Rushing, Cody Rushing and Angel Dudley, one great-grandchild, Matthew Dudley. SAVANNAH - Charles Ernest Tuttle, Jr., 90, of Savannah, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at Savannah Square Rehab Center. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Kincey Tuttle, and his parents, Charles Ernest Tuttle, Sr., and Estelle Chapman Tuttle. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, served as a Greeter, and a member of the Administrative Board of the Church. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Signal Corps, Company C 926 Signal Battalion. He served in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAMET Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and WW II Victory Medal. He was discharged Dec 19, 1945 at Camp Gordon, Ga. He was retired as superintendent of ILA 1475, and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge # 183 for 32 years. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Tuttle, of North Charleston, SC; two sons and a daughter in law , Charles E. Tuttle, III (Sheryl), of Charleston, SC; and Kenneth M. Tuttle (Susan Strobel) of Savannah, GA; 2 grandchildren, Eric (Ellen) Tuttle, Jenna (Brett) Baskin, and a great grandchild, Ella Baskin, of Charleston, S.C. a sister, Harriett T. Martin of Savannah, GA; and 3 brothers, Francis Chapman (Nocoleta) Tuttle, Sr., of Concord, NC; Daniel C. Savannah Morning News (GA) - September 19, 2008 She was born in Kansas City, MO, daughter of the late Frank and Ilah Edwards Travis. She married Charles Edward Zipperer, Sr. in Miami, Florida in 1946. They were blessed with four daughters and one son. Beverly completed a study with Geselle Institute. She taught school for 17 years at various Christian schools plus two years at Georgia Regional Hospital working with autistic children. Also, she was presented the Red Cross award, the highest award given for saving a life. Beverly loved to teach the Bible and memorized many passages even into her 80's. She learned of Jesus Christ at 13 years of age. He was her Savior, companion and she loved to teach God's word. She loved her children's spouses as her own. She was a member of Skidaway Island Baptist Church and formerly a member of Calvary Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Zipperer, Sr. and grandson, Travis Culbreth. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Z. and Alan Tanner of Savannah; JoAnn Z. and Eddie Grooms of Woodstock, GA; Dawn Z. and Tommy Culbreth of Snellville, GA; Darlene Z. and Greg Meyer of Bethlehem, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Earl Ray Swinford was born May 25, 1932 in Henrietta to the late Oley and Hazel (Freemen) Swinford. Earl graduated from Frenship High School in 1950. He married Patsy Ruth Adkins Nov. 26, 1952. She preceded him in death March 25, 2006. Mr. Swinford was a charter member of South Plans Church of Christ and also served as an elder. Mr. Swinford is preceded in death by a brother Sammy Allen Swinford. He is survived by a son, Brian Swinford and wife Cathy; grandchildren Megan and John Landon, of Plano; two brothers Jerry Swinford and wife Sylvia of Lubbock, Rep. Services for Maxie Hughes Wilson, 70, of Tyler will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church with Dr. John Robbins officiating. A private burial will precede the service under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson passed away June 10, 2010, at the Legacy Hospice Serenity House in Tyler. He was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Tyler to the late Murph and Emily Hughes Wilson and was a lifelong resident of Tyler. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1957, where he played football on the team that went to the State Championship in 1955. He was named Most Valuable Lineman in District 8AAAA in his senior year. While in high school, he was also the vice president of the "T Association." He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1961 from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After returning to Tyler, he worked as a landman and he remained active in the oil and gas business throughout his life. Mr. Wilson was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and the East Texas Landman's Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed running and participating in races. Mr. Wilson is survived by a loving family including his wife of 47 years, Flora Wilson of Tyler; son, Robert Hughes Wilson and wife Laura of Tyler; granddaughter, Emily Wilson; and grandson, Luke Wilson. Sheldon Ward Hughes was born August 8, 1923 in Cleveland, OH to Sheldon and Florence (Wank) Hughes. He passed away April 10, 2015. Ward earned a BS in Forestry from Pennsylvania State University in 1948 and pursued Masters Studies at Yale. A WWII Veteran, Ward served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Company C, 325th GIR from August 1944 - January 1946. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. He married Theo Virginia Smith in 1960, and they had two sons, David Ward Hughes, and Thomas Daniel Hughes. They were married 53 years. Ward was owner of Ward Hughes Company, a food brokerage firm, which was founded in 1968. He remained active in the business until 2004. In addition to his wife, Ward is survived by his children, David Hughes and his wife, Beverly; and son Thomas Hughes, and his wife Cynthia; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, and Joseph Hughes, and Nash and Eleanor Hughes. Ward was a longtime member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. Graveside funeral to be held 11am Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Edgewood, TX. SHERMAN Texas (Sp.) - A triple funeral service has been set for a Sherman man, his wife and their young son who were asphyxiated in their sleep when a slow-burning fire sent smoke through their home here early Saturday. Services for Mr. and Mrs. David Lee Jones, both 22, and their son Darrell Lee Jones, 3, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Forest Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Holloway Cemetery south of Sherman. All three were in the same bedroom when they were asphyxiated by smoke from the fire, which firemen said began under the floor furnace in the living room of the home. The fire had apparently been burning slowly for several hours. Jones, a native of Oklahoma City, was manager of a 7-Eleven store here. His wife was a lifelong resident of Sherman, and was an employe of the Johnson & Johnson plant here. The child was born in Sherman. Jones is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Merritt, one borther and two sisters. Sister Mary Louise Mount, 87, Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, died peacefully at Incarnate Word Convent Monday, September 29, 2014. Sister, born Mary Louise Jackson on October 31, 1926, in Houston, Harris County, Texas, was the daughter of the late Francis Harold Jackson and Edna Emaline Wilson Jackson. She spent her early years in Houston, where she attended school and was active in the Methodist Church. In l944, Mary Louise married James Irwin Murph and became a loving mother of six. After having been widowed, she converted to Catholicism, making her Profession of Faith, and receiving the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation on April 10, 1982 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. Mary Louise entered Incarnate Word Convent, Corpus Christi, on February 11, 1986. Six months later, she became a novice, receiving the religious habit of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. Sister made her first profession of vows August 8, 1987 and professed perpetual vows August 18, 1990. Sister Mary Louise celebrated her 25th anniversary of religious profession on May 12, 2012. Prior to becoming a Sister, Sister Mary Louise’s accomplishments were many and varied. Later, at the convent, she was appointed director of the infirmary and was engaged in sewing and other domestic works of the community. Sister served on the Incarnate Word Sisters’ task force for the homeless mentally ill, which was instrumental in the formation of Metro Ministries’ Rustic House. She was a member of the local, state and national levels of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Sister served on the executive board of Nueces County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center as well as on the executive board of Metro Ministries. Sister Mary Louise published her autobiography under the title All of the Best and the Best of All. Sister Mary Louise is survived by her son, Dr. Larry Murph (Arlene) of Tyler, Texas, and their three daughters, Laura (Mason), their three children, Jackson, Haley and James, all from Tyler; Sarah (David) and their son, Murph, all from San Diego, CA; and Maggie Murph of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving are her daughter, Melanie (Dwayne) Harrison of Coppell, TX, and their children – Lauren of Manhattan, Kansas; Zachary, Michael and Carter of Coppell; daughter-in-law, Janice Murph of Rockport, and son, Andy. In heaven, Sister Mary Louise is together again with sons Harold, Howard and Mike, and daughter Emily. Stephen H. Oliver STEPHEN H. OLIVER WILL BE BURIED SUNDAY He was Resident of Pooler Forty Years. The funeral of Stephen H. Oliver, 80, of Pooler, who died yesterday afternoon at a local hospital, will be conducted at his residence in Pooler tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. F. M. Gaines, pastor of the Epworth Methodist Church, and the Rev. Ernest Seckinger, pastor of the Pooler Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery at Pooler. Mr. Oliver had been a resident of Pooler for about 40 years and was in the turpentine and farming business until about 25 years ago when he retired. He was prominent in civic and county affairs. Surviving Mr. Oliver are his wife, Mrs. Cora T. Oliver of Pooler; two daughters, Mrs. Harry T. Underhill of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Robert L. Theo Virginia Hughes was born July 26, 1925 in Edgewood, TX to Perry and Docia (Rainey) Smith, the youngest of seven siblings. She passed away March 20, 2017. She married Sheldon "Ward" Hughes in 1960, and they had two sons, David Ward Hughes, and Thomas Daniel Hughes. Virginia grew up on the family farm in Edgewood. She attended North Texas State University in the 1940's then began working to support the war effort. Following World War II she worked for Lone Star Gas, in Dallas. Virginia worked together with Ward in 1968 when he founded the Ward Hughes Company. Virginia managed the office and remained active in the business until 2000. Virginia was a longtime member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker, and proud grandmother. Virginia is survived by her son, David Hughes and his wife Beverly, son Thomas Hughes and his wife Cynthia; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, and Joseph Hughes; and Nash and Eleanor Hughes. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Presbyterian Village North Arbor Place staff for the gentle, loving way she was treated while under their excellent care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Wayne Carrell on October 23, 2006. She was a licensed realtor affiliated with Realty of the Southwest of Dumas and bookkeeper for the family business, Gear Drive Service of Sunray. Thressa loved life and practiced living one day at a time to its fullest. She enjoyed football and spending time with family and friends telling stories. She was always one to never sugar coat what was on her mind and just "told it like it was." Thressa was always one to control the conversation and if you ever disagreed with what she had to say she would usually end it with a "whatever." She was very independent, strong willed and stubborn; but her witty sense of humor and ability to make people laugh drew people toward her and allowed them to love her for everything that she was. TX S/Sgt 301 AAF Bomb GP WWII AN & 8 OLC-PH Killed in Action On a bombing mission 25 February 1944, B-17G #42-31664 departed from the air base at Foggia, Italy to a target at Regensburg, Germany. Weather was clear that day with unlimited visibility. The ship encountered enemy aircraft and was seen to break apart in the air. The plane crashed near Haarbach, south of Landshut, Germany. Several were able to bail out, however, they were captured and taken prisoner. Six men were killed from this ship including SSgt Joe D Tate, 17010267, Tail Gunner, from Linden/Cass Co TX, KIA On this same day, six B-17s and two German twin-engined fighters crashed in the vicinity, and 58 US Airmen were either killed or taken prisoner. USMA Class of 1937. Cullum No. 10938. He was born on April 4, 1911 in Macon, Georgia to Henry and Madge Elkins. He attended Citizens Military Training Camp for two months during high school. When he was 18 years old he joined the Georgia National Guard. Unable to obtain a Congressional appointment to the United States Military Academy, he enlisted in the Regular Army. In 1933, he led all Regular Army competitors and obtained an appointment. After graduation he attended Army Flying School, but decided on the Artillery where he trained at Fort Sill. He was assigned to Panama. After the Normandy invasion he joined the 101st Airborne Division in combat, first as executive officer, then as commander of the 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion. His battalion was the only Field Artillery battalion in the European Theater of Operations to be twice awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation. He served with the battalion through the Holland, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. In 1944, he was cited for gallantry in action at Bastogne, receiving the Silver Star Medal. He was designated Master Parachutist due to his assignment with the 82nd Airborne Division and with the Airborne and Electronics Board. After World War II, he married Elizabeth Lombard Robinson. She was the widow of his cadet roommate, William Leslie Robinson, who died as a Japanese prisoner of war. In 1965 following service at Fort Huachuca, as Commanding Officer of the United States Army Electronics Research and Development Activity, he retired, settling in Tucson, Arizona. He was active in the West Point Society of Southern Arizona as a member of the board and served three terms as the President. He worked with the Admissions Office at West Point, the locally designated West Point Liaison Officers and many young men and women of Southern Arizona who were interested in a military career. Vernon Charlton Hinely, age 77, of Rincon died Sunday, June 5, 1994, at Effingham Extended Care Facility. The Rincon native was educated at Rincon High School, Richard's Business College and Draughon's Business College. He was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church, having served on the building and finance committees. Warren W. Fortner, age 92 of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, July 9. He was born in Atlanta, GA on April 18, 1922. He married Mildred Wooster on February 1, 1941. Mr. Fortner was a member of the Baptist faith for 80 years. He graduated from Atlanta Law School and served in the CCC's and the US Army. Mr. Fortner was a World War II Veteran as well as a Mason for 57 years. He retired as a correctional counselor for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Atlanta, GA, as a Field Deputy Sheriff of Sevier County, TN, as well as a security guard at Dollywood. He was active in the Airstream Travel Trailer Club for 45 years. After retirement, Warren and Mildred travelled extensively, visiting all 50 states, most of Mexico, and every province in Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents Clem H. Fortner, Sr. and Fannie S. Fortner, daughter Cathy Johnson Chauncey, brothers Clem H. Fortner, Jr. and John A Fortner, and sister Katie Lee Sikes. Wendelken, George Leland
The Effingham County native was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and a member of the Shirley Sharpe Sunday School Class. He previously served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was a counselor for the youth group of the church . He was employed at SSA/Cooper Stevedoring Company. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Maree Nease Wendelken of Guyton; two sons and daughter-in-law, George Kerry Wendelken, Jeffrey and Penny Wendelken; one daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna and Robbie Purvis all of Guyton; five grandchildren, Britni, Anna, J.B. Wendelken, Brandie and Martina Purvis all of Guyton; one sister, Lula Dixon of Guyton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bethesda UMC. Mr. Wendelken will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery . WEST POINT – Donna Brewer Bryan, 68, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at her home in Starkville. She was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Pheba to Imogene Millsaps Brewer and Walker Green Brewer. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She played the piano in her early years at Hebron Baptist. Later she taught the Ladies of Grace Sunday School Class at Fellowship Baptist. She married Richard C. Bryan Sr., on May 14, 1961, at Hebron Baptist Church.

WEST POINT – James D. "Jay" Brantley, 65, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. James David Brantley was born June 10, 1946, in Kosciusko to Cora Faye Cupit and J.B. Brantley. He was a truck driver for Bryan Foods for 37 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. James D. "Jay" Brantley married Beth Elaine Millsaps Brantley on July 23, 1967, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. He had attended Mississippi State University and Holmes Junior College. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the the Rev. Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Bluff Cumberand Presbyterian Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Beth Millsaps Brantley of West Point; two daughters, D'Juana Cummings (Mike) of New Hope and Stacey Dengler (Chuck) of Hattiesburg; two sons, Ray Brantley (Cobe) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Lawrence Brantley of West Point; seven grandchildren, Aaron Cummings, Beth Ann Cummings, McKinzie Cummings, Charles Dengler, Kadin Dengler, Maddox Brantley and Lynn Dengler; and one sister, Beverly Shields (John) of West Point. Pallbearers will be Ed McDonald, Tom Jack Williams, Ray Brantley, Lawrence Brantley, Aaron Cummings and Chuck Dingler. Honorary pallbearers will be George Pearson, A.R. Parks, Elbert Smith, Willie Hightower, George Bailey, Trenton Stockton, Buck Harmon, Jack Danovosky, Cleophous Witherspoon, the staff of West Point Ambulance Service and the staff at University of Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. William Avery Chapman, 'Eagle', 42 passed away Monday, January 21, 2013. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the HWY 70 Church of Christ, Spur, Texas. Pastor Tommy Bailey officiating. Interment will be at Espuela Cemetery. William was born May 24, 1970 in Abilene TX. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1988. He was the school mascot and football trainer. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR and Dale Earnhart Jr. He was always fun and loved life simple in blue jeans and T-Shirt. William is survived by his mother, Bobbie and husband Joe Shafer of Spur, TX. Father, Raymond Chapman, Monument NM. Sister, Laura Kay and husband Johnny Monk of Spur, TX. Brother, James Leatherwood Jr. of Crosbyton. Three children, James Chapman of Crosbyton, TX, Talon Chapman and Kyrsten Chapman of Odessa, TX. One niece and two nephews. William is preceded in death by his step-dad James Leatherwood and grandmother Cleone Coursey. William E. Helmly, 65, died Thursday, November 8, of a heart attack while on a hunting trip in Bulloch County. He was district manager of the Life Insurance Company of Georgia. He was a steward of the Statesboro First Methodist Church, a member of the Statesboro Rotary Club and a member of the Alee Temple of the Shrine. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. W. E. Helmly of Statesboro of Statesboro; a daughter, Miss Shirley Helmly of Garden City and Rev. Cecil C. Helmly of Lone Star, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Meldrim Exley of Rincon, Mrs. Annie Kessler and Mrs. Frank Ackerman of Savannah and Mrs. Frank Wessinger of Chapin, S.C., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Helmly were held Friday afternoon, November 9, at 3 o'clock from the Statesboro First Methodist Church with the Rev. L.D. Shippey conducting the services.
